OPPORTUNITIES BY INDUSTRY
Construction/Highway Industry Careers
Become a painter, pipefitter, electrician, carpenter, operating engineer, or other tradeswoman. Or you might want to become a project manager, technician, engineer or architect. There are many pathways towards these careers. Note that these trade careers begin with graduation from a Registered Apprenticeship Program.Registered Apprenticeship (R.A.P.) Programs
Most trade careers begin with graduation from a Registered Apprenticeship Program. The window for applying and testing into these programs is only open TWO OR THREE TIMES A YEAR, so check this link often!
Once you complete the training, you can get paid (well!) to build upon your trade skills. You can even earn college credit!
Energy and Utilities Sector Careers
Help to build and maintain new and smarter energy grids, pipelines, and facilities.This is an area that is planning for a coming worker shortage, and Hard Hatted Women has been working with many of the largest utility companies in the industry.
Industrial (Manufacturing and Natural Resources) Careers
The manufacturing sector is beginning to make a comeback in Ohio. In the next year or so, many companies will be looking for women welders, machinists, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) operators, operations engineers and managers, industrial engineers, and many other skilled specialty workers. Though many of these opportunities are currently on hold for a year or so, now is the time to enter training programs for when the hiring starts.The Natural Resource Sector also offers opportunities operating equipment, managing operations, and other related activities in mining, timber harvesting, agriculture, and other areas.
