Communications/Marketing Assistant:

You will  assist HHW in maintaining strong relationships with  current donors, students, and associates.  Help develop and maintain marketing avenues,  and  share  your creativity with the rest of the staff.


Tasks you will encounter: 

  • Maintaining and updating a database 
  • Updating, maintaining, and creating new ideas for  HHW's Website
  • Designing  pamphlets /brochures/flyers/posters/videos
  • Keeping in  touch  with  HHW students
  • Creating our quarterly news letter Riveting News

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Organized and deadline-oriented
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Interest in and commitment to women's rights




Job Developer:

The volunteer will work under the supervision of and in cooperation with the Adult Program Coordinator and will be responsible for job readiness assessment and job placement of Pre-Apprenticeship Training (PAT) and other adult program graduates.

Tasks May Include: 

  • Assist with job search and resume writing for adult program participants
  • Maintain database of employers and women seeking non-traditional jobs
  • Maintain the job bank and enter information onto HHW website
  • Assist with job readiness assessment, job referrals, and job coaching 
  • Promote and publicize employment opportunities and apprenticeship openings to women in the community interested in pursuing non-traditional jobs.  
  • Follow-up with adult program graduates on a regular basis

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Experience in job coaching and/or counseling a plus
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Interest in and commitment to women's rights


Development Volunteer:

The volunteer will work under the supervision of and in cooperation with the HHW Development Director to assist HHW with event planning, donor and community relations, visual and print media, grants management and other related tasks.  Some tasks may be done off-site. Opportunities are available year round, including summer months. 

 

Tasks May Include: Facilitating communications between HHW and its volunteers and donors, event coordination, preparation and distribution of fundraising materials, public relations such as media communications, web/newsletter articles, etc., researching foundations and other potential sources of funding, drafting grant proposals and reports, letters of inquiry and correspondence.

Skills

Excellent writing skills

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Experience in public relations and/or development a plus

Organized and deadline-oriented

Interest in and commitment to women's rights

 


Policy Volunteer:

Work under the supervision of and in cooperation with the HHW Policy Initiatives Coordinator. Opportunities are available year round, including summer months. 

Tasks may include:

  • Outreach and coalition build around community issues related to responsible development, economic and gender equity
  • Assist with expansion of contractual services provided by HHW to the private business sector, government entities and others;
  • Assist with issuing and updating Action Alert Hotline;
  • Provide updates on policy issues for HHW newsletter, Riveting News and website;
  • Preparation and dissemination of press releases/media kits regarding policy findings, actions, etc;
  • Prepare and maintain resource kits for Economic Equity Services;
  • Research potential funding sources and assist with drafting proposals for support;
  • Communicate the mission of Hard Hatted Women and policy agenda to community members, partners, potential clients, volunteers and Board.
