Policy Initiatives

Hard Hatted Women would like to thank all the apprenticeship coordinators
for filling out customer surveys for the market research for our business plan
and Gene Stepanik of IBEW won a Home Depot gift card in the drawing.

The WIRE-NET deconstruction project was a success and we have photos.
It has resulted in some local attention.  Hard Hatted Women would like to thank Brad Guy, President of the Buildings & Materials Reuse Association, Brian Freidman and Heather Lazar as Northeast Shores Development, Denise LeSauer at Habitat for Humanity, Chris Kious from St. Clair- Superior Development,
Patrick Doran, local artist, Ruth Gross, tradeswoman, and Fred Woods and Carlos Feuntes of the Operating Enigneers.

Our Purpose
Hard Hatted Women works to ensure that women, minorities and other traditionally disadvantaged populations have access to opportunities in high-wage, skilled careers in the construction industry through training, support and advocacy.  Hard Hatted Women works to implement systems that will impact the success of not only a project, but of all stakeholders, through partnerships which create an environment of diversity, inclusion and opportunity.  By providing tools which combat harassment and discrimination against workers on the basis of gender, race, sexual orientation or age, and advocating for policy change on issues affecting women in nontraditional employment through local, state and regional partnerships, Hard Hatted Women pursues our mission to create economic equity and independence.

Our Model

The Partnership Model Hard Hatted Women supports all entities involved on large-scale construction projects including owners, developers, contractors, unions, apprenticeship programs, communities and workforce.  In promoting our Best Practices  model we work to establish realistic goals for contracting and workforce participation.  Through our   Economic Equity Services, we provide a wide array of resources and tools.
