Adult Education | Pre-Apprenticeship Training
Have you ever thought about pursuing a job in a trade?
If yes, then the Hard Hatted Women Pre-Apprenticeship Training (PAT) Program may be the right program for you.
This course is designed to prepare women for the various skilled trade apprenticeship programs, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrician, operating engineers, or sheet metal workers. It focuses on teaching the mental and physical skills needed to successfully work in the skilled trades professions. Hard Hatted Women's Pre-Apprenticeship Training (PAT) program is a ten-week course that prepares women mentally, physically and psychologically for the rigors associated with working in a male dominated environment.
Preparation for skilled trades apprenticeships includes:
- Math and measurement
- Blueprint reading
- Aptitude tests
- Study skills
- Tool recognition
- Tools use and safety
- Material handling
- Physical conditioning
Students gain the knowledge, self-esteem and job skills necessary for women to survive in the field of non-traditional employment, with the overall goal that they obtain employment in the skilled trades or non-traditional blue-collar jobs and persevere in these positions.
Supportive services are essential for women to successfully complete training and their job search. All participants receive one-on-one counseling with an on-site Case Manager and are referred to additional services as needed. Graduates also receive lifetime career development assistance.
PAT Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma/GED
